Overview
Rui Xiong received the M.Sc.Eng degree in vehicle engineering and the Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, China, in 2010 and 2014, respectively.
He is a professor and the director of the National Engineering Research Center of Electric Vehicles, at Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, China. From 2019 to 2020, he was a visiting professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, USA. He has authored more than 200 journal papers, five monographs, and holds more than 60 patents. His research interests include electrified vehicles, energy storage, batteries, and machine learning.
He has been continuously selected as a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate Analytics every year from 2018 to 2024. He was a recipient of the Special Prize of the Technical Invention Award from the China Society of Automotive Engineers (as the first awardee), the First Prize of the Technology Invention Award from the China Electrotechnical Society (as the first awardee), the Natural Science Award from the Ministry of Education of China (as the second awardee), and the First Prize of the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Invention Award (as the second awardee). He is the Founding Director of the Energy Storage System and Equipment Technical Committee of the China Electrotechnical Society. He serves as the Founding Executive Editor-in-Chief for the journal Green Energy and Intelligent Transportation. He is also the Founding Chair of the International Conference on Energy Storage and Electric Intelligent Vehicles (ICEIV) and has served as the Conference Chair since 2017 and will continue through 2025.
